Caputh

"Come to Caputh, hell with the world, "with these words tried to Albert Einstein's son Edward to visit his beloved house in Caputh persuade.
The great physicist had to leave in 1929 on the edge of the place of the Saxon architect Konrad Wachsmann build a wooden house. Unfortunately he could only spend three summer here but then it came to power forced by the Nazis in 1933 to emigrate. Einstein has entered his house again. Today it is sometimes used as a venue for concerts during the Caputher music and can be visited.

Historically Caputh is known as a small electoral estate. Together with the palace and gardens of Bornim Glienicke and it was once a glorious climax in the art from 1660 designed landscape around the capital city of Potsdam. A testimony to this cultural past Caputher embodies the castle. The castle is situated on Lake Templin and was built in 1662 by Philip de la Chieze. In 1830 the castle garden, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné was designed.

A visit to the Castle Museum gives an impressive insight into the Brandenburg-Prussian architecture and courtly living culture in the second half of the 17th Century. Just behind the castle, idyllically situated on the lake, which loads in 1830 built a cavalier house with regional specialties to stop.

Another gem of the Commune is the Mark of the architect Friedrich August Stüler built around 1850 Caputher church. It embodies a three-aisled basilica with a round arch in the so-called off from the nave contained bell.

In summer it is worth a visit to the beach Caputh. It is located north of the Havel at Schwielowsee, so you must compile with the ferry. Recommended for long walks in every season of the trail around the lake Caputher.

Arrival:
Caputh directly borders the city of Potsdam. The village is located close to the A115 (to Berlin-Charlottenburg) and the A10 (Berliner Ring). After Berlin (36 km) you travel by car about 40 to 60 minutes. The eight kilometers away, Potsdam can be reached by car in ten minutes, there are also hourly bus service. From Potsdam is Caputh with the ships of the "White Fleet" reached.
