The Englischer Garten (English Garden) is a small but mighty area in the Großer Tiergarten. Between Siegessäule (Victory Column) and Schloss Bellevue (Castle Bellevue) is the Englischer Garten and impresses with its beautiful planting, the lush green lawns and the cute little round trees. Not to forget the small wells, which conjure up a wonderful atmosphere. Many of the plants are gifts directly from England and even from the Queen II herself. The garden was then built in the 1950s and is considered a sign of rapprochement.
In the Englischer Garten is the thatched Teehaus. This oasis of calmness and relaxation is located in the middle of Berlin and it is at the same time a place of culinary delights. The restaurant at the Teehaus is really excellent, as well as the beer garden on the terrace is cosy and invites you for a beer or a cup of tea.
The Englischer Garten with its Teehaus is especially known above all for its annual taking place “Konzertsommer” (“Summer in Concert”). On 9 Summer-Sundays, music acts from many different genres play concerts respectively at 4 p.m. and at 9 p.m. These concerts you can watch free. The concerts will take place in front of the Teehaus on a concert stage and you can dance, have a picnic on the grass or just enjoy the music. HERE you can check if you like to see one of the concerts. However, even without the concert, the small Englischer Garten is worth a visit and it could be wonderfully integrated into your sightseeing tour. Just escape in a paradise of tranquillity and natural beauty, before it goes back into the hustle and bustle of our beloved Berlin.
