Festival of Lights
From October 11 to October 20, 2019, Berlin shines for the 15th time in the most dazzling colours. The Festival of Lights is a crowd-puller in Berlin every year and attracts over 3 million people from all over the world to Berlin!
10 nights, 100 locations and 100,000 m² of art – Berlin shines high and low, whether at the Victory Column, the Bode Museum or the Berliner Dom. The light installations are very special, so they often tell a story and invite you to stay a little bit there and let it affect you.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the motto of this year’s Festival of Lights is “Lights of Freedom“. The 3D video show at the Brandenburg Gate is very typical. Each year, a 15-minute video projection takes place there, which uses the Brandenburg Gate as a screen and creates a new world with 3D effects, telling a story and captivating you completely.
This show is one of the highlights of the Festival of Lights, which is why thousands of enthusiastic spectators are in front of the Brandenburg Gate, standing along the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden and waiting for the light spectacle.
But do not worry, if you’ve missed the beginning, the 3D light production is played with short pauses in a row, so you cannot miss it.
Overall, the Festival of Lights covers almost the entire city. It illuminates streets, world famous landmarks, monuments, historic squares and trendy districts, and there is something to discover everywhere in the city.
At Potsdamer Platz there is a lot to see for you, as the streets around Potsdamer Platz, the building facades and the areas are illuminated.
