The Friedrichstrasse…

…is one of the most famous streets in the historic centre of Berlin. It starts at Oranienburger Tor, passes the river Spree on the bridge Weidendammbrücke, crosses the boulevard Unter den Linden and ends at Mehringplatz. This southern section of Friedrichstrasse is not that well – known but the Kreuzberg neighbourhood with its lovely pedestrian zone and the various shops is worth a visit.

The 3.3 km long Friedrichstrasse is one of the heart arteries of the metropolis and offers you countless attractions.

Fascination and jest

Since 27.09.2018, a big spectacle awaits you in the Friedrichstadt-Palast... “VIVID – The Beauty of Things” will surely inspire you! Until 11.07.2020 you have time to be enchanted.

VIVID is a declaration of love to life. Over 100 artists will take you to a world that couldn´t be more colourful and shrill, more vibrant and overwhelming! Be enchanted by R’eye and explore her world with her!

Or would you rather laugh all night long? No problem! A visit to the Quatsch Comedy Club in the basement of the Friedrichstadt-Palast strains your funny bone, for sure! Even the golden Admiralspalast with its red velvet chairs and the breathtaking pompous and splendid chandelier in the midst of the hall offers you a perfect and stylish setting for a successful evening programme. And if you perhaps are into cabaret, then you should check out the programme of the cabaret-theatre Distel. You will surely find something interesting!

A contemporary witness

But the Friedrichstrasse is also a contemporary witness of Berlin history. Between 1961 and 1990 there was the border crossing between the Soviet occupation zone in the east of Berlin and the US-American sector in the west of the city. Today, the world-famous Checkpoint Charlie is a landmark that time and an attraction that you should definitely visit. Right next to it is the Mauermuseum and provides more information about this checkpoint at the Berlin Wall.

Of course, the Friedrichstrasse is also an ideal street for shopping. In the French luxury department store Galeries Lafayette you can get noble designers outfits or you check out the typical Berlin style along the road in several stores.

So no matter what your looking for in Berlin, whether theatre, show, comedy, shopping, history, boulevard, or simply a good restaurant. Before returning to your LINDEMANN HOTELS® you can choose out of 1000 ways to explore and fall in love with our beloved capital Berlin!
