The Gleisdreieck is perhaps not in your tourist guide, however, you should not underestimate it.
The underground station Gleisdreieck is nowadays not as spectacular as in earlier times, when it was in fact a railway triangle. Today, the two subway lines 1 and 2 intersect at two levels and a connection to the S-Bahn is planned.
But is much more interesting the vast terrain, which you can discover around the station. On about 26 hectares a parkland was built, which extends from Berlin Kreuzberg to Berlin Tiergarten. The park closes the gap in the North-South Green Link, ranging from the government district with the Spreebogenpark via the parks at Potsdamer Platz to Gleisdreieck. The ICE line divides the park in the East and West Park, which both were created by different concepts.
In East Park, an artificial plateau was created where you find playgrounds, boules alleys and Ping-Pong tables. Long wooden benches support the long-stretched and open character of the system. The sporting highlight of the East Park at Gleisdreieck is the huge skate park, which has the largest outdoor pool in the city. But on the straight smooth asphalt paths, you have enough space to explore the park easily with your skates or on your longboard and to internalise the nature.
The West Park features spacious paths, its multifunctional sports and play areas and expansive lawns. There you find also a prepared sand surface in front of the wooden terrace. From there you can enjoy the park and the city at the same time.
The concept of the Park at Gleisdreieck is innovative and should offers the citizens and visitors of our beautiful capital city plenty of room for exercise, sports, fun and recreation. Despite the many opportunities in the park to be active, you will find there the rest you are looking for in a recreation area. The differentiated range of utilization of this park is diverse and yet it does not affect the desire for calm, relaxation and enjoyment of nature.
From fjord hotel berlin, you can see the park already. Therefore, you are right close to the destination.
So if you want a bit of calm from the bustle of the city, then visit the Park at Gleisdreieck. You walk from the hotel less than 5 minutes and you are already in the park. There you can relax and enjoy the view of the skyline from the Potsdamer Platz in central Berlin.
