The International Congress Centre ICC Berlin
Some think the futuristic aesthetic of the building is awful, others think it is great. Therefore, it is up to yourself whether you think the nickname “Silver Spaceship” is positive or negative. However, probably you will notice that the architecture is similar to the “Bierpinsel” (“beer brush”) in Berlin Steglitz. Both architects have built the tower restaurant as well as the convention centre in the 1970s. What do you think, is it fate that both buildings are currently closed?
In fact, the ICC Berlin, one of the largest convention centres in the world, is closed since April 2014 for lack of operability. Since then, the ICC Berlin is ready to be renovated. It is planned that it will be renovated little by little, so that the congress rooms can be used gradually and the spaceship can fly again.
Since the ICC Berlin is closed, some congresses take place in the opposite building called “CityCube”. The building was specially built so that you can continue to attend conferences and congresses in Berlin. Next to it are the halls of the exhibition ground. Perhaps you are interested in visiting a fair, so have a look HERE. In addition, if you have chosen for a fair, then a stay in one of our hotels would perfectly fit.
Thanks to its great transport connections you smoothly reach, for example from our LINDEMANN’S or from the fjord hotel berlin, the exhibition ground and the ICC Berlin. You usually just take the U2 and get off directly at the fair. But first check the timetable. After all, this is Berlin, you never know! 😉
