Berlin Mitte…
…is diverse, colorful and holds many treasures for you! Most of the sights that Berlin has to offer can be found in Mitte. This district is part of the historic city centre and shows you the historic as well as the modern Berlin.
Ideally, you can conquer Berlin Mitte on foot. Most of the sights are very close to each other and a walk through our centre is always worthwhile!
For example, you can climb the TV tower at the famous Alexanderplatz. The television tower is 368 meters high and one of our most famous landmarks. Right next to it is the Rote Rathaus and opposite you will find the Nikolai Quarter. You should definitely stroll along there. The small cute buildings form a complete contrast to the concrete buildings at the otherwise quite grey looking Alexanderplatz. In the Nikolaiviertel you can have a wonderful meal and enjoy a glass of wine. The atmosphere there is just beautiful.
If you then continue towards the Brandenburg Gate, you will inevitably pass the Berlin Cathedral. The Protestant church is the largest sacred building in the city and is a wonderful magnificent building that you must see. The Catholic counterpart is the St. Hedwig Cathedral. It is located not far from the Berlin Cathedral. It is located at Bebelplatz near the Gendarmenmarkt and is architecturally based on the Pantheon in Rome.
If you are already at the Gendarmenmarkt, then look around there in peace. This square is considered the most beautiful square in Berlin and it really deserves this award. Have a look at it, drink a coffee in one of the numerous cafés around the Gendarmenmarkt and enjoy the beautiful ambience.
If you feel less like strolling and more like art and culture, then you should definitely visit the Museum Island. As the name suggests, there are several museums on an island in the middle of the Spree River, of which Berlin can truly be proud!
