The Oranienburger Strasse
Another kind of promenade you´ll find between Friedrichstrasse and station Hackescher Markt. Whether art, culture, bars or restaurants … The Oranienburger Strasse is rich in history and offers the exact right thing to each Berlin visitor.
The splendid New Synagogue´s permanent exhibition about its almost 140 years of history of the old house of God invites you and even the partially gilded dome is open to visitors.
Culture vs. relaxing
In a side road you´ll find a bit more Rock´n´Roll. There is the world’s only Ramones museum. The appendant bar is worth a visit because small concerts help to make a name for itself. (Meanwhile, the museum is located directly on the Oberbaumbrücke at the subway station Schlesisches Tor. Definitely stop by!). Berlin is known, finally, for its varied nightlife and in Oranienburger Strasse everyone makes a find. There are a lot of bars, cafés and restaurants that invites you to spend the night there.
Not far from our hotel at the upper end of Oranienburger Strasse the famous house of art and culture “Tacheles” is located. This building contains theatres, 20 ateliers, workshops, studios and a café and this building is telling its quite own story. For those who are interested in art and culture, this visit is a must!
At the lower end of the Oranienburger Strasse, direction Hackescher Markt, you´ll find one of the countless parks of Berlin – the Monbijoupark. It is located where the Monbijou Palace once stood. Today this is a recreation park with a huge lawn, a playground and an open air pool for children. Also there is an open air cinema and an amphitheatre where you can enjoy magnificent spectacles or you leisurely sip a cocktail at the beach bar.
