Velothon became VeloCity
Since 2011 you have been able to take part in the annual Velothon and show what you are made of. There was no bicycle race for the first time in 2019. But now, in 2020 it’s back! The Velothon was renamed VeloCity. and will take place from June 13th to June 14th, 2020.
There are two different routes and you can decide which one is right for you.
60 km route
Are you more of a casual cyclist and would like to take part in the event in a relaxed manner or just challenge yourself? Then the 60 kilometre route is just right for you! The route is flat and leads you through our beautiful Berlin, past the most famous sights such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Victory Column or the Potsdamer Platz.
120 Km route
If you want to challenge yourself a bit more, you can take the 120 kilometre route. This leads you through the center of Berlin, as well as to the outskirts and neighboring Brandenburg. Here you can show what you can do and measure yourself against time or your bike colleagues.
So you drive with both the beginners and the professionals, you can see the exciting Berlin and the tranquil Brandenburg and you can really work out.
So far, the finish line has been duly celebrated by around 100,000 spectators and all participants even received a medal. It won’t be any different with VeloCity in 2020 if you finish your race at the exhibition ground.
But even as a spectator, you can enjoy the whole spectacle without shedding a drop of sweat. Take the U-Bahn or S-Bahn to get to the route, as the roads are closed to private traffic. You can easily get to our start and finish from our hotels, for example. From CALMA Berlin Mitte, simply get on one of the S3 or S9 lines at the S-Bahn station and get off at the Messe Süd S-Bahn station. It’s that easy!
Would you like a delicious breakfast beforehand? Well then go for it! Yummy, with lots of love and homemade and regional products, specialty coffees and practically everything your heart desires. Afterwards it is much easier to start the day and watch the athletes sweat…
