Surrounded by small streets with cafes, restaurants, bars and antiquarian bookshops is the place with the tall St. Matthias Church in the centre of an image of Berlin Schöneberg! Between the trendy district of Kreuzberg and the more bourgeois Wilmersdorf district, you will find a colourful bustle, which could not really be more diverse.
The Winterfeldtplatz itself was built in 1890. And indeed, since then there is the weekly market, which still -or more accurately: since 1990 again- takes place! Every Wednesday and Saturday, you can pay a visit to the largest and most famous weekly market of our bustling metropolis Berlin and feast, feast, feast! In fact, there are the most amazing goodies directly to take away. Whether currywurst, strudel or crêpes, it is delicious!
But there are also plenty other things that deserves to be placed in your basket. For example, meats and cold cuts, cheese, pita and other baked goods, which makes your mouth water! There is also fresh fish, coffee, flowers, Maultaschen (pasta squares filled with meat and spinach) and more!
Around the Winterfeldtplatz and in the side roads, you can choose out of multicultural gastronomy and always score a hit! Especially on Saturdays there is a lot going on and after you finished strolling over the market you definitely deserve a coffee and a piece of cake! Alternatively, do you prefer a freshly pulled beer? The diverse and traditional pub scene is represented at Winterfeldtplatz, you will certainly like that!
Your weekend on the balcony and in the Schöneberg Kiez (neigborhood)
