For your Berlin holiday in August several events take place each day, which could not be more different. You will find festivals, open-air events, street festivals, sporting events, music, theatre and museums. Just as colourful and varied as our beloved capital, as varied are your options in Berlin in August.

I have picked out 7 events that I would like to introduce you briefly. So you can get to know Berlin better and you can differ from the typical sightseeing route and go slumming.

Berlin laughs

Berlin Alexanderplatz WeltzeituhrSince mid-July, the International Street Theatre Festival “Berlin Laughs” at Alexanderplatz already takes place. Until August 7th you can watch 150 artists in 684 shows that show on 4 stages and throughout the Alexanderplatz what they have down pat. Do you like acrobats in the air or on the ground? Do you fancy vaudeville or characteristic clown theatre? Are you a fan of puppet theatre or fire shows? Then show the artists what you liked by feeding their hungry hats with a few coins because the entry for this somewhat different festival is free. Already laughed today?

On the first weekend in August, our International Berlin Beer Festival with the motto “500 years German purity law” takes place again. From the 5th-7th August, you can get to know 340 breweries from 87 countries on 2.2 kilometres and select out of 2400 beer specialities which beer you like best. Sit comfortably in the World´s Longest Beer Garden and chill in the Berlin sun with a cold pint and enjoy the good music, played on 20 stages. Cheers!

The weekend 19th-21st of August…

…is dedicated to healthy eating, sport and fun. Three events could be of interest for you.

On Friday, the weekend begins with the Vegan Summer Festival. For the 9th time, on Europe’s biggest Vegan Summer Festival you can not only learn something about the variety of delicious vegan cuisine but also learn more about animal testing-free cosmetics in information sessions and inform yourself generally about the vegan lifestyle. The whole event is totally relaxed and non-vegans are of course welcome. This casual and relaxed city festival at Alexanderplatz offers you the possibility to taste vegan delicacies, to find alternatives to leather and to usual cosmetics and of course to have a lot of fun with good music.

Colourful, sportive Berlin

Holi Festival BerlinSporty and healthy, it then goes around on Sunday twice in Berlin.
From 8:00-16:30, on the Tempelhofer Feld the US Festival Wanderlust takes place. What is that? It’s the perfect combination of yoga, music, good food and inspiring lectures. You start in the morning at 8 am with a 5km run, followed by a 75 minutes yoga flow underscored by live DJs, completed by a 30-minute guided meditation.

Should you be a friend of Holi Festival, then perhaps the Color Run™ on August 21st from 11am will be something for you. Whether you run, jog, walk, jump or dance … Just have fun, wear a white T-shirt and be happy with amazing music, with happy crowds around you plus a shed load of colour. You will get covered from head to toe in a rainbow of colours at each kilometre of the course. Be surprised how that happens. And of course, also the legendary colour powder fights take place at the closing event, where you can celebrate yourself and your life with great music and lots of bright colours. Berlin is colourful, so do you. Colourful is wunderschön!

Long Night of the Museums

Of course, in August, the Long Night of Museums will be held again. On August 27th, you can visit from 6pm to 2am approx. 100 museums and exhibition venues. With special shuttle buses, you get easily from A to B and thus you can also visit easily the not in the centre located exhibitions. Framed by concerts, readings and theatre performances is the Long Night of Museums every year a great event that takes place throughout Berlin.

And finally, I would like to introduce you the East Side Music Days along the East Side Gallery. About 100 artists play on this street music festival along the Berlin Wall on 26th-28th August their songs or perform on the main stage at the river Spree. Live and free of charge you can listen to music of all genres and be impressed by the tunes and by this very special place.

One of our 4 houses of LINDEMANN HOTELS® is the right one for you in any case. Start your cracking day from there to Berlin or return from a colourful and exciting day in Berlin to enjoy the calm in this city. We love helping you to find the right hotel for you and look forward to seeing you on your August holiday in Berlin!
